When we talk about no-makeup makeup, generally the discussion is centred around tinted moisturisers and bb creams. However, there are plenty of us out there who love natural, no-makeup makeup, but also LOVE makeup and want to have a collection of beautiful products. With that being said, let me talk you through some of my favourite products that I believe fall perfectly into the no-makeup makeup category…
HOLLYWOOD FLAWLESS FILTER by Charlotte Tilbury
Whether you use it as a primer underneath your foundation, or as a highlighter on top, the Hollywood Flawless Filter is the perfect product for giving your skin a glow without it looking greasy or breaking up your makeup. As I do prefer to have a semi-matte look to my skin generally, my favourite way to use the Hollywood Flawless Filter is on my cheekbones on top of my foundation and concealer to provide a natural, but effective highlighter that’s void of shimmer.
AIRBRUSH BRONZER by Charlotte Tilbury
Bronzers can often exacerbate the appearance of texture on the cheeks. The Airbrush Bronzer by Charlotte Tilbury, however, is pressed very firmly, allowing for the product to be applied smoothly to the skin without any excess powder latching onto texture in an unflattering way. What I particularly love about the Airbrush Bronzer is how sheer, yet buildable, it is – and for that reason it’s perfect for no-makeup, natural makeup.
VEIL TRANSLUCENT SETTING POWDER by Hourglass
Having shimmer in a setting powder can sound daunting, but in the case of the Veil Translucent Setting Powder by Hourglass it’s the key to setting makeup while allowing the skin to look untouched. Thanks to just how finely-milled the formula is, the Veil loose powder gives the a blurring effect to the skin and leaves it looking naturally radiant.
MOOD LIGHT LUMINOUS POWDER by Jaclyn Cosmetics
If you’re after a natural looking highlighter, but would prefer to use powder over cream, look no further than the Mood Light Luminous Face Powders by Jaclyn Cosmetics. As a loose, finely-milled powder, these both blur the skin and give it a beautiful glow. My go-to shade currently is Brighten Up and my favourite brush to apply it with is the Sigma highlighting brush.
AMBIENT STROBE LIGHTING POWDER by Hourglass
Alternatively, if you’d prefer a highlighter that’s pressed rather than loose, the Ambient Strobe Lighting Powders by Hourglass are a phenomenal option – you just need the right brush to bring the product to life. Using a more dispersed highlighting brush, these powders can be swept across the cheekbones in layers to provide a gorgeous glow that has an undetectable texture. My go-to shade is Incandescent and my favourite brush to apply it with is the MAC 137S.
SOFT MATTE COMPLETE CONCEALER by NARS
A killer to no-makeup makeup tends to be that big pimple on your chin – am I right? Instead of potentially spending tonnes of time trying to layer a liquid concealer on top of it, try using the potted cream Soft Matte Complete Concealer by NARS instead. Take a tiny amount on a cotton bud, and remove the excess on the back of your hand, taking what’s left on the bud and lighting tapping it onto your pimple. For me, it’s an instant fix, and doesn’t led to my skin becoming caked up or unevenly covered in makeup.
LIPSTICKS, OILS & BALMS
MATTE REVOLUTION LIPSTICKS by Charlotte Tilbury
The Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipsticks are by far the best matte lipsticks that I’ve tried. With a soft, cushioning texture, they’re comfortable to wear and don’t leave your lips looking dry or covered in product. Given the sheer, yet buildable nature of these lipsticks, they’re great for using as a tint of colour across the lips. What’s more, they house the most iconic ‘your lips but better’ lipstick that the industry has to offer – Pillow Talk.
POWER BULLET CREAM GLOW LIPSTICKS by Huda Beauty
If you’d prefer a cream formula, the Power Bullet Cream Glow Lipsticks by Huda Beauty are an incredible option. With a super creamy, smooth and dewy formula, these lipsticks are easy to apply and don’t exacerbate any dryness whatsoever. I’m absolutely obsessed with these.
OIL-INFUSED LIP TINT by NARS
If you’re after a non-sticky and sheer gloss, look no further than the Oil-Infused Lip Tints by NARS. Coming in a small selection of shades, my favourite has to be Reef, a sheer rosy bronze. With the finest shimmer woven throughout the formula, it adds a hint of glam to any natural look.
AFTERGLOW LIP BALM by NARS
It’s undeniable that NARS make some of the best and most comfortable lip products. Besides the Oil-Infused Lip Tints, their Afterglow Lip Balms are a beautiful product for natural, no-makeup makeup. With a fine, oil-like texture, these balms are lightweight and hydrating, while being sheer yet buildable. My favourite shade for no-makeup makeup is Fast Lane due to it’s mauve tone, however, a lot of people have Orgasm as their preference for a natural look.
WHIRL by MAC
As a mauvy neutral nude, Whirl is the closest colour I own to my natural lip tone. While the MAC lip pencils aren’t the longest lasting formula out there, Whirl is too good of a colour not to have as a part of my collection given how beautifully natural it looks on my lips.
PILLOW TALK by Charlotte Tilbury
Pairing perfectly to Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution lipstick in the same shade, the Pillow Talk lip pencil is a brilliant no-makeup makeup option if you’re after a more pink tone. Personally, I find Charlotte’s lip pencils to have the best formula on the market, with a creamy but not overly soft formula which lasts for a long time on the lips.
ICONIC NUDE by Charlotte Tilbury
If you love the Charlotte Tilbury lip pencil formula, but would prefer a more brown tone as opposed to pink, then Iconic Nude may be a great choice for you. With a coolness to the undertone, this pencil is a unique colour that is slightly darker and more neutral than Whirl by MAC. It’s by far one of my most used liners, and I particularly love to wear it with Charlotte’s Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria.
02 by Victoria Beckham Beauty
Alternatively, if you’d prefer to have a lip pencil which is warmer in tone, but still falls into the neutral category, then the iconic Victoria Beckham Beauty lip definer in the shade 02 may be a perfect option. While warmer than the aforementioned pencils, it has a rosy tone that makes it beautiful for natural makeup.
