MATTE REVOLUTION by Charlotte Tilbury
Every makeup lover will already know (and no doubt own) a Matte Revolution lipstick from Charlotte Tilbury. Including the likes of Pillow Talk, Very Victoria and Walk Of No Shame, the Matte Revolution formula is home to some of the industry’s most iconic lipsticks, and it’s not difficult to see why. With a super soft texture, these leave your lips looking cushioned and feeling oh-so comfortable. All the shades are beautifully buildable and are easily worn as a tint or opaquely. They really are such a collectable item and I absolutely love each and every one that I own. My favourite shades are Very Victoria, Supermodel, Cover Star and Pillow Talk.
MODERN MATTE by VIEVE
Given how young of a company VIEVE is, their Modern Matte Lipsticks are yet to obtain the recognition that I believe they truly deserve. Upon my first impression, I was blown away at how pigmented and smooth the formula was and how easily it glided across my lips. They felt really lovely on, and allowed my lips to feel healthy and happy. Without settling into fine lines, I couldn’t be more impressed, and I’m waiting (im)patiently for more shades to be released. My favourite colours are Vieve and Ninetease.
POWDER KISS by MAC
MAC’s Powder Kiss formula is as unique as it is comfortable with a light-weight feel and ultra-fine consistency. With a demi-matte finish, these lipsticks mimic your lip’s natural texture while avoiding drying them out. The brighter, deeper and bolder shades have brilliant one-swipe pigmentation and lasting power, whereas the lighter nude and neutral shades are very sheer. The formula of the mid to deeper shades lends itself to versatility as they can easily be worn as a tint or with full colour impact.
Personally, I wouldn’t recommend the lighter shades as they have a tendency to look patchy – but any of the mid, deep, bright or bold shades are stunning, particularly on top of a lip liner. My favourite shades are Shocking Revelation and Mull It Over.
POWER BULLET MATTE by Huda Beauty
As one of my favourite lipstick formulas, the Power Bullet Matte Lipsticks are always on-hand. While they provide a similar powder-like feel to MAC’s Powder Kiss, these have a much more consistent formula and performance level across the shade range. With strong pigmentation and a gorgeously smooth texture throughout the entire collection, these lipsticks are a must-have. However, it must be that they are ever so slightly drier than the aforementioned formulas, so I do prefer to wear them with a lip balm underneath. My favourite shades are Anniversary, Joyride and El Cinco de Mayo, and I can’t wait to expand my collection in the future.
