LOOK + FEEL
To start off, let’s talk about the colour. I picked up the shade 001 Pink, and while the colour is prominent, it was a lot more natural in tone than what is shown in Dior’s promotional images. Honestly, I was thankful for this, as while I love to have a tint of colour, I’m not that fond of shades looking too artificial or doll-like. Instead, it comes off as a sheer but visible wash of colour with a high-shine look, making it great for everyday wear, especially for Spring and Summer.
In terms of feel – it’s more sticky than I had anticipated, but it’s nowhere near what is experienced with traditional gloss formulas. In fact, the stickiness is pretty minor, but nonetheless it is present. In terms of longevity – as an oil, it will come off easily as the day progresses, and when this happens it feels quite tacky on the lips, but, again, nowhere near what is experienced with traditional gloss formulas.
APPLICATOR + APPLICATION
With a huge doe-foot applicator, the product concentrates on the tip and is most easily dispersed across the lips from this point. After the oil is on, you can take the wide side of the applicator and spread the product around. Personally, I don’t find this to be necessary as you can get plenty of precision and cover distance with the tip of the applicator due to its size and shape. I’ve never seen a lip applicator so big, and personally I think it’s unnecessary – but it’s fun! The product can spill a little when removing the applicator from the bottle, so just be cautious!
The packaging is absolutely gorgeous and feels luxurious. It looks as though it would be a great little gift. While Dior is a brand that’s been around for years, the packaging has a modern feel while still remaining classically chic.
COMPARISON TO OTHER FORMULAS
The NARS Oil-Infused Lip Tint in the shade Reef is one of my favourite products of all-time. With a super comfortable, lightweight and non-sticky formula, it’s such an amazing option for a quick and effective everyday fix which requires no fuss whatsoever.
Unlike the Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil, the Oil-Infused Lip Tint has no stickiness at all, and is more easily spreadable with it’s smaller applicator and has a higher shine too. The Dior oil has no shimmer, whereas the NARS oil does – albeit a small amount which is very, very fine. In terms of its wearability, the NARS oil creates an encapsulated sheen which feels comfortable for hours. Personally, I think it wears better than the Dior oil, and leaves the lips feeling more hydrated for longer.
The Patrick Ta Major Glow Lip Shine is slightly stickier than the Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil and also contains (more and bigger) flecks of fine shimmer. Like the NARS Oil-Infused Lip Tint, I prefer the applicator of the Major Glow Lip Shine than that of the Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil – although it takes a little bit of umpf to get the applicator out of the Patrick Ta tube due to its triangular shape! In terms of wearability, there isn’t that big of a difference between the two formulas.
